Hi, I’m Sylvette Padayao, formerly known as Sylvette Slone!
I was born in the Philippines and moved to the U.S. when I was 15 years old. Growing up, I was constantly surrounded by nature, fruit trees, vegetables, and flowering plants filled our yard, and just forty feet away, a river gently flowed. Our furniture and furnishings were made from natural materials, and even the bamboo gazebo in our yard was a place where we gathered and connected. I spent most of my days outdoors, and those childhood memories remain some of the happiest moments of my life.
That deep connection to nature is at the heart of everything I do as a designer. Through Sylvette.P Design Studio, I aim to recreate that same feeling of joy and serenity for my clients, crafting interior design solutions that bring the outdoors in and promote well-being through thoughtful biophilic design
I earned my BFA in Interior Design from Pratt Institute in New York. After graduating, I spent several years working as a decorative painter and restoration artist, breathing new life into iconic architectural landmarks such as Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Kings Theatre, Carnegie Hall, and the New York Public Library. While I loved the artistry of that work, my true passion has always been interior design, where creativity meets functionality and personal stories are told through space.
At Sylvette.P Design Studio, our purpose is clear: to create environments that connect people to nature and support a healthier, more meaningful way of living. We do this by incorporating natural materials and a deep respect for the harmony between humans and the natural world.
When I’m not designing, I’m usually with my twins at the beach, painting, reading, or making hand-crafted artisan soaps. These simple joys inspire the work I do and remind me why creating spaces that nurture the soul is so important.
